Namibia’s Covid-19-related death toll has risen to 27 following five more deaths recorded Thursday. The health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula said two are from Walvis Bay, two from Swakopmund and one from Windhoek.

Their details are:

  • A 67-year old woman from Walvisbay who presented at a private health facility on 23rd July 2020 with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19. The patient was admitted on the day of presentation in a severe condition. Patient is known to have multiple comorbidities. She died on the 12th of August 2020.
  • A 87-year old male from Walvisbay presented at a local health facility with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. The patient is known to have multiple comorbidities. He was tested on the 11th August 2020 and died on the same day.
  • A 49-year old male from Swakopmund presented at a private health facility on the 27th July 2020 with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Patient is known to have multiple comorbidities. He was admitted on the 27th July 2020 in a critical condition and transferred to a private health facility in Khomas region. He died on the 12th August2020.
  • A 62-year-old male from Swakopmund presented on the 6th August 2020 with symptoms consistent with COVID. He was tested on presentation and admitted to a private health facility. He is known to have multiple comorbidities. Since admission, the patient was in a severe state and died on the 12th of August 2020.
  • A 66-years old male from Windhoek who is known to have a co-morbid condition. He presented with COVID-19 related symptoms and was admitted on the 9th August 2020 to a local hospital in Windhoek. He was tested on the same day. His clinical condition deteriorated and he died on the 10th August 2020.
