A nine-year-old girl who tested positive of Covid-19 fell and died at Walvis Bay on Thursday.

Health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula said although the girl had tested positive, her death is not included among the four who died of Covid-19-related deaths as announced on Friday.

Dr Shagula said the Walvis Bay case is an unusual one and involves a 9- year old girl who was confirmed with COVID-19 positive died tragically after she fell from a height on the 12th August 2020.

The matter is being investigated to rule out or confirm suicide.

In a statement Friday, Dr Shangula said three of the deaths are in Windhoek, one from Swakopmund. This brings the number to 31.

The details of the death are:
A 48-year old man from Windhoek who presented at a local health facility on the 4th August 2020 with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19. He was tested on the same day and the result came out as positive. The patient is known to have multiple comorbidities, was admitted in a severe state, and died on the 13th August 2020.

An 83-year-old woman with known co-morbidities was admitted on the 10th August 2020 at a local hospital in Windhoek after she presented with respiratory symptoms. She was tested on the same day. On the 14th August 2020, her clinical condition deteriorated suddenly and she passed away. Her result for COVID-19 was confirmed
to be positive.

A 68-year-old woman from Windhoek who presented to a local health care facility on the 6th August 2020 with a surgical complaint and was admitted. She is known to have multiple comorbidities. She later developed symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and was tested on the 11th August 2020 and results came out positive. She died on the 14th of August 2020.

A 45-year-old man from Swakopmund who presented to a local facility on the 6th August 2020 with symptoms consistent with COVID-19. The patient was tested on the same day and admitted to a local health facility. The patient died on the 14th of August 2020. The COVID-19 test was confirmed to be positive.
