Namibia’s Covid-19 cases are climbing with Friday’s announcement of 182 cases spread across the country.

Currently, Namibia is using the Namibia Institute of Pathology, Unam laboratories, Namdeb and Pathcare for testing Covid-19 samples.

Health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula said 97 are women and 85 are men all aged between one year and 85 years.

The cases are spread as follows:

One case reported from Windhoek is that of a 47 years old female, a resident of Rehoboth who works in Windhoek. Rehoboth district team is informed to initiate contact tracing.
The number of the case from Windhoek that was announced yesterday, fifteen of them are health care workers.
Cases coming from Arandis were under-reported because the reporting system is based on a district, these cases are reported under Swakopmund.
Today among the cases reported from Swakopmund District, two are from Arandis.
Two cases reported from Okahandja are both from Oropoko where more than 30 cases had been reported before. They are aged 25 and 26 years respectively and both are males. They were both tested on the 7th August 2020, as they presented with COVID19 related symptoms.
The case reported from Okakarara District is that of a 28 years old male from Okamatapati who is a contact to a confirmed case. He was tested on the 7th August 2020 as he presented with COVID-19 related symptoms.
The case reported from Otjiwarongo is that of a 60 years old male with no known contact to a confirmed case. He was tested on the 7th August as he presented with COVID-19 related symptoms.
The cases reported from Gobabis District are as follows:
A 37 years old female from Epukiro, with no known contact to a confirmed case. She was tested on the 5th of August 2020, prior to a referral to Windhoek for medical attention. She did not have COVID-19 related symptoms.
A 24 years old male from Gobabis, with no known contact to a confirmed case. He was tested on the 9th of August 2020, as he presented with COVID-19 related symptoms.
A 53 years old male and a contact to a confirmed case in Windhoek, was tested on the 10th August 2020. He did have COVID-19 related symptoms but has been in quarantine.
A 28 years female old and a contact to a confirmed case in Windhoek, was tested on the 10th August 2020. She did have COVID-19 related symptoms but has been in quarantine.
A 27-year old male with no known contact to a confirmed case. He was tested on the 10th August 2020 as he presented with COVID-19 related symptoms.
A case reported from Katima Mulilo is a 20 years old female, a Zambian national studying in Namibia. She returned back from Zambia on the 2nd August 2020 and had been in quarantine. She was tested on the 7th of August 2020.
A case reported from Rundu district is that of a 27 years old male and a contact to a confirmed case. He travelled from Walvis Bay on the 1st August 2020. He did not have COVID-19 related symptoms.
Three cases reported from Oshakati District are as follow:
A 28 years old female, with no known contact to a confirmed case. She was tested on the 11th of August 2020 as she presented with COVID-19 symptoms.
Two cases from Oshakati are residents of Ongwediva, aged 25 and 56 years, a male and a female respectively. They are both contacts to known cases and both did not have COVID-19 related symptoms.
The three cases reported from Luderitz District had travelled from South Africa and all had been in quarantine. More information is expected from the region.
