I am not going to denounce Tate Otto Nankudhu, Eliaser Tuhadeleni, or Tatekulu Kaxumba Kandolo’s contribution to my free speech at all. Nope, despite few details on their sacrifices, I just want you to hear me out.

The history I learned in school didn’t say much about these great men and women. I learned about Tatekulu Maxwilili from some NBC clips and that is it. As for Tobias Hainyeko, he is not written anywhere much. And who is Nakadha kaShikololo they sing about?

Colleagues, if it wasn’t for the Plan songwriters, I wouldn’t know much about the women and men who liberated Namibia.

To make it worse, most of those songs are in Oshiwambo, so my Nama, Mafwe, and Zemba friends won’t know our heroes either.

I have learned more about the Namibian liberation struggle through a war veteran called Andili yaKafinana. He has documented many of the ordeals of the liberation struggle in his okwiitanga/poetry/songs.
