Following the death of a resident due to water scarcity, the Oshikoto Regional Council says it has set aside about N$635 000 for rural development programs, with a focus on constructing short water pipelines.
This intervention is expected to address the pressing issue of water scarcity and prevent further loss of lives in the region.
The move by the Regional Council is a direct response to the backlash it received from residents following the recent death of a domestic worker at Ohailungu Village in Nehale lya Mpingana Constituency, attributed to water scarcity.
The domestic worker was identified as Sakeus Kuunda (34).
To avoid further loss of lives in the region, Oshikoto Regional Council’s spokesperson, Petrus Nehale, said the region’s leadership has now stepped up efforts to provide emergency relief to affected constituencies.
