The German Goethe-Institut Namibia, in collaboration with the Namibia Investment and Promotion Board (NIPDB), has launched an apprenticeship program meant to enhance the employability of Namibian youth.
The initiative launched this month aims to provide Namibian youth access to apprenticeships in Germany, leveraging the robust relationship between the two nations and Germany’s highly regarded dual apprenticeship model known for its practical approach to vocational training and skills acquisition.
The program’s goal is to equip young Namibians with relevant skills and international work experience, enhancing their employability both in Germany and upon their return to Namibia.
Speaking at the launch, Dennis Schroeder, the Goethe-Institut Director, emphasised the critical issue of high youth unemployment in Namibia, viewing it not just as a statistic but as the unrealised dreams and talents of a generation.
