We Care Charity Foundation, in partnership with Rundu Town Council, NASA, and Ngato Vocational Training Centre, initiated a town cleaning campaign in Rundu, Kavango East region, on Thursday.
Community members actively participated in the cleaning campaign, targeting areas prone to littering by residents, including Rundu Town Council, Tutungeni, Donkerhoek, and Rundu Sports Stadium.
Hendrick Kandjimi, Director and Chairperson of We Care Charity Foundation, emphasised the positive impact of a clean town, stating that it can attract tourists, reduce malaria infections, and provide a safer environment for youth.
“I believe that Rundu is a big town, and people living here should be aware of cultivating a cleanliness mindset, creating a safer space for everyone,” said Kandjimi.
He highlighted the correlation between town cleanliness and the prevalence of malaria, emphasising that cleaning the town can help prevent mosquito breeding during the rainy seasons.
“A clean town will be known as one of the cleanest towns,” Kandjimi expressed.
