Observing the descent of the Hercules Oil Rig into our waters to assess offshore wells triggers a cascade of thoughts within me.
In this context, I would like to discuss how criminals and fraudsters have elevated their tactics to sustain their illicit economic activities more affectively at the expense of the entire nation.
It is well known that nearly every natural resource in our country, spanning minerals, marine reserves, and even land itself, is under the control of foreign investors or multinational corporations.
We normally blame this situation on the political leadership and policymakers for not ensuring that the country’s resources are retained by Namibians through all possible means.
However, there is one factor that we seldom explore and discuss in a thoughtful manner, being the know-how and technological capabilities required to extract the maximum benefit from our resources.
