The Kavango East regional leadership has asked the government to transfer the operational control of some of the green schemes in the region to the Regional Council in a bid to improve productivity.

This move was prompted by the continual underutilisation and lack of production at some of the green schemes in the region.

The Kavango East region currently hosts five green schemes, namely: Ndonga Linena, Shitemo, Shadikongoro, Uvhungu-vhungu, and Mashare.

Among the five, only Mashare which is under private control has been producing optimally.

Ndonga Linena which is run by the government has not been consistent and a huge portion of its land remains underutilised.
