In Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, ingratitude is defined as the forgetfulness of or poor return for kindness received.
As we bid farewell to the festive season, a time when loved ones and family gather, we now find ourselves in January—a month encouraging us to share and support one another after the holiday celebrations.
However, once January concludes, it’s common to forget the friends, colleagues, or even strangers who extended their hands to help throughout the month.
Did you take a moment to appreciate the person who sent you money to cover your electricity bill when you were strapped for cash? What about the taxi driver who willingly took your kids to school, even after you couldn’t pay him the previous month, or the neighbor who stepped in when your babysitter cancelled at the last minute? Or perhaps it’s the bridesmaid who assisted with wedding planning without any cost?
