Pupils from the Kavango East region dominated the top 20 best performers in the 2023 Grade 11 and 12 national examination results released this week.
Twelve of the pupils who made the list were enrolled at private and public schools in the region.
Rukonga Vision School in the Divundu area led the pack with nine learners in the top 20, while St Boniface Private School in Rundu Rural had three learners.
Surprisingly, Khomas region claimed the top spot overall, overtaking Kavango East, which secured the leading position in the previous year.
In Kavango East, about 1,012 candidates qualified for the 2024 National Senior Secondary Advanced Subsidiary NSSCAS, with 9.9% of candidates meeting the criteria.
The list of best learners in Kavango East includes two females and 10 males, with Andreas Shinime topping the list.
