Siguruguru Primary School, accommodating nearly 900 learners in Kavango East, has undergone a remarkable transformation with the construction of new classrooms and an administration block for teachers.
The school faced numerous challenges in recent years, notably last February when heavy rains and winds led to the destruction of about 14 tents at the school, impacting learners’ books, chairs, and chalkboards.
On the first day of the school year, learners, who had been taught in tents and shacks since 2019, were welcomed into the newly constructed buildings.
The construction project was completed at the end of October 2023.
The new facility includes classrooms for pre-primary to Grade 4A, while Grade 4B to Grade 7 continue to use tents, awaiting funding in the next financial year for further construction.
