Minister of Agriculture, Calle Schlettwein, has confirmed that some strides are being made in a few of the government’s in-grain production efforts, however, has strongly criticised the now-defunct Agricultural Business Development Agency (AgriBusDev) for its failure to ensure the success of the country’s green schemes.

According to the ministry, the Etunda Green Scheme Irrigation Project, Sikondo Green Scheme Irrigation Project, Uvhungu-Vhungu Green Scheme Irrigation Project, Ndonga Linena Green Scheme Irrigation Project, and Shadikongoro Green Scheme Irrigation Project, stand out as having potential to make Namibian a self-sufficient maize and grains producer.
