The Chairperson of the Kavango West Farmers Union, Johannes Hausiku, has called on farmers to seize the opportunity presented by recent abundant rains in the region and maximise their effort for a better harvest.
He emphasised the crucial role of northern farmers in ensuring Namibia’s food security, considering the Kavango regions as potential breadbaskets.
Hausiku encouraged subsistence farmers to shift from traditional practices, urging them to produce surpluses for both local and international markets.
This approach, he believes, will not only secure food for families but also contribute to the overall food security of the country.
