The development of the Sikondo Green Scheme irrigation project in Kavango West continues on a positive note with production of vegetables progressing on a consistent basis.
The project recently achieved a milestone by delivering its first harvest of the year, including vegetables like green peppers and tomatoes, to the Oshana and Khomas regions, instilling renewed optimism for the local economy.
Managed by the government, Sikondo not only contributes to the regional economy but also extends benefits to local communities through employment opportunities and the sale of affordable maize, wheat flour, tomatoes, and onions, among other produce.
The project employs 32 permanent workers and hires up to 500 casuals annually for seasonal jobs.
