Namibia should devote much of its attention and resources towards improving research in science and technology to boost its economy, achieve food security and combating poverty.

This is according to Nhlanhla Lupahla, the General Manager for Research, Science, Technology, and Innovation at the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST), who emphasised the pivotal role of research in science, and technology in propelling economic growth.

Lupahla’s statement aligns with a similar call made by International Relations Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at a regional and continental level last year, underlining the urgency of investing in these critical areas for sustainable development.
