The Agricultural Bank of Namibia has called on farmers to embrace transformative measures to mitigate climate-related losses.
Agribank’s Technical Advisor for crops and poultry, Hanks Saisai, in a statement issued this week highlighted the challenges faced by farmers, particularly the impacts of climate change such as erratic rainfall, recurring droughts, and resulting crop and livestock losses, leading to financial setbacks nationwide.
Recently, The Villager reported how subsistence farmers in the Kavango East/West regions are struggling with a prolonged heatwave, a situation that could cause irreparable damage to their crops.
The abnormal increase in temperatures not only affects crops but also raises concerns for livestock due to limited grazing grass availability.
