A recent Police parade celebrating the promotion of police officers in the Kavango West region has revealed a stark gender disparity within the Namibian Police Force in the region.

The parade revealed that out of the 25 officers promoted in the region, only four were female, while 21 were male.

The event, which conferred promotions ranging from inspector to chief inspector, underscored the need for greater gender equality in the police force.

The promotions included three chief inspectors, eight senior inspectors, and 14 inspectors. Notably, only four of these promotions went to female officers, with one female recipient hailing from the Oshikoto region.
