A new generation of farmers is emerging in Namibia, driven by a passion for agriculture and a commitment to sustainable food production.

Among them is Hileni Ataleni, a trailblazer who found her calling in farming at the age of 27.

In 2017, Ataleni graduated from the Mashare Agricultural Development Institute (MADI) in Kavango with a horticulture certificate, laying the foundation for her journey into the world of agriculture.

Three years later, she acquired three hectares of land at the Etunda Green Scheme Irrigation Project in the Omusati Region, embarking on her path as a small-scale producer.

Ataleni’s story is one of resilience and determination, as she navigates the challenges and opportunities of modern farming.
