In a recent press release, CEO of the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund Rosalia Martins–Hausiku has called upon the public to examine road user behaviour.
This is because research conducted by the Fund in 2021 shows that 72% of crashes are related to human error, 25% to the road and environment, with 3% being vehicle-related.
“This calls on us to adjust our behaviour on the road because we are hurting ourselves and other road users,” demanded Martins.
The question becomes, what percentage of that 72% related to human errors are as a result of the driver being under the influence of alcohol?
