The national results for the Advanced Subsidiary Level have been less than satisfactory.

While there are numerous potential reasons for this, in this piece, I will explore the possibility that varying interpretations of subject content within prescribed syllabi by different teachers may play a role.

A syllabus is essentially our educational roadmap, guiding everything from lesson planning to exam preparation.

It serves as the foundation for schemes of work, year plans, and sets the framework for national examination questions.

Therefore, it’s imperative that we interpret the syllabus correctly to ensure effective teaching and learning.

When designing exams, I meticulously review the syllabus to pinpoint specific objectives I intend to assess.
