While Namibia’s older generation perceives the country’s 34 years of independence as a significant milestone, the younger generation, born after 1989, questions the relevance of Independence Day amidst ongoing socio-economic challenges.

In an independent Namibia, poverty, unemployment, inequality, landlessness, and homelessness persist, affecting millions of Namibians.

The stark reality includes over 1.6 million people living in poverty, 800,000 lacking access to food, and 400,000 requiring humanitarian aid.
