The Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower) will receive the largest portion of the funds the government has allocated for electricity subsidies.

This development follows the Electricity Control Board’s (ECB) cancellation of scheduled electricity tariff increases after the government provided N$365 million to subsidise electricity consumers for the 2024/2025 financial year, effective from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

Of this total, approximately N$221 million will be directed to NamPower to support its mandate and ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.

The remaining N$144 million will be utilised by distribution utilities to mitigate the impact of electricity tariffs on their customers, according to ECB CEO Robert Kahimise.
