The Namibian Building Workers Pension Fund (NBWPF) has enforced the provision of a pension fund for all employees within the construction sector.

This new requirement is outlined in a recently signed Collective Agreement between the Construction Industries Federation of Namibia (CIF) and the Metal and Allied Namibian Workers Union (MANWU), which took effect on June 6, 2024.

The Collective Agreement, published in Namibia’s Government Gazette (No. 8377, Notice 156), not only establishes minimum wage guidelines but also introduces mandatory pension fund provisions.

Under these new regulations, every employer in the construction sector must ensure that their employees are registered with the NBWPF.
