A compilation by the Namibia Statistics Agency shows that out of the country’s 3.02 million population, around 1.67 million Namibian citizens are eligible voters for the upcoming elections. The data also reveals that most eligible voters are female, totaling 878,003.

However, registration is a prerequisite to participate in the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly election slated for November 2024.

This revelation comes as the country faces voter apathy, with less than three weeks remaining before the end of the General Registration of Voters (GRV) period.

As of last week, only 823,761 have registered to vote, leaving around 844,017 yet to register.

During the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections, 1.3 million people registered to vote, with 700,648 being young people, according to Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) records.
