The City of Windhoek (CoW) has secured an N$80 million loan to acquire prepaid water metres aimed at enhancing water consumption management among residents.
This announcement was made by the City’s acting strategic executive for finance and customer services, Samuel Mutonga, last Sunday during a public meeting in the Katutura East constituency.
In 2021, CoW introduced plans to roll out prepaid water metres to reduce water consumption debts.
The City then urged residents in 2022 to apply for the conversion or replacement of their existing postpaid connections to prepaid metres, which operate on the same principle as prepaid electricity metres.
