Namibia’s electricity generation in June 2024 fell to its lowest level of the year, producing only 152,224 MWh after five consecutive months of generating over 200,000 MWh.

This significant drop in domestic generation led to the highest electricity imports for the year, with the country bringing in 211,944 MWh in June.

As a result, 58% of Namibia’s energy needs were met through imports during June 2024.

The data is part of the latest Electricity Sectoral Report prepared by the Namibia Statistics Agency.

The Ruacana Power Station continued to dominate local electricity production, accounting for 72.3% of the total output (110,130 MWh).
