Agricultural activities within the communal areas can be more productive than they are currently according to an assessment by the Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reforms, Carl Schlettwein.

He made these remarks during his keynote address at the official opening of the Aminus Agricultural & Industrial Show at Aminius, Omaheke Region.

“Communal agriculture, when it is correctly practised like here, can be more productive than extensive commercial farming,” Schlettwein said.

He said the decision by communal farmers at Aminus to fund their own auction facility to the tune of N$700,000 demonstrates how productive their farming activities can become.
