The Namibia Agronomic Board (NAB) is currently in discussions with the Ministry of Agriculture to secure third-country approval from the European Union (EU). This approval would certify Namibia’s agricultural exports as safe and fit for human consumption, allowing them to access the EU market.

NAB Chief Executive Officer Fidelis Mwazi confirmed that the process is underway.

He explained that obtaining this approval would not only certify the safety of Namibia’s produce but also grant NAB global recognition as a world-class regulatory body.

The EU’s third-country approval for horticulture refers to the recognition of non-EU countries that meet the EU’s stringent standards for food safety, plant health, and quality control in the production and export of horticultural products.
