The Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) has implemented a policy requiring all service providers in the oil and gas sector, looking to establish operations at the country’s ports, to include Namibian participation.

This initiative aims to facilitate skill transfer to local professionals.

Nangula Hamunyela, Chairperson of Namport’s Board of Directors, announced this mandate during the Walvis Bay Maritime Week held last week in the Erongo region.

She emphasised the crucial role of the maritime industry in driving Namibia’s economic growth and development, highlighting its importance as a conduit for international trade, facilitating the movement of goods and connecting global markets.
