65% of Namibian Pork Imports Came from Germany in August

Namibia imported 724,174 kg of pork, primarily in the form of offal, processed, and fresh pork, to supplement local production last month.

This was revealed by the Namibia Livestock and Livestock Product Board (LLPB) in its monthly statistics and commentary report for August 2024, released last week.

According to the LLPB, 80% of Namibia’s pork imports came from the European market, with Germany accounting for the largest share.

Of the total imported pork, 65.2% originated from Germany, followed by Spain with 8.1%, and Belgium with 3.6%. In August alone, Namibia imported 472,395 kg of pork products from Germany.

In Africa, South Africa supplied 20.5% of Namibia’s pork imports, reflecting Namibia’s continued reliance on the South African industry for processed and finished food products.
