Namibia’s export earnings increased by 2.9% in September 2024, reaching N$9.0 billion, up from N$8.7 billion in August.
This was revealed in the latest Namibia International Merchandise Trade Statistics Bulletin released by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA).
However, imports surged by 20.5% in September, totaling N$14.8 billion compared to N$12.3 billion in August.
This resulted in a significant trade deficit of N$5.8 billion, up from N$3.6 billion in August.
Cumulatively, Namibia’s export earnings for the year up to September 2024 reached N$85.6 billion, marking a notable increase from N$74.1 billion during the same period last year.
Imports for the same period totaled N$114.7 billion, representing a rise of N$17.2 billion year-on-year.
