The Namibian Police Force says it is ready to maintain security in the country during the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Wednesday this week.
Nampol’s deputy inspector-general, Elias Mutota, said the police is ready to ensure that voting takes place under a “safe, secure and peaceful environment”.
Part of Nampol’s readiness falls within the scope of a national crime prevention operation that is currently running from 3 November to 2 December.
“This is in line with the constitutional mandate to safeguard democratic processes and we are in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders that includes the Electoral Commision of Namibia, to prepare comprehensive security plans,” Mutota said.
