Namibia’s oil and gas industry is expected to significantly transform the country’s economy by creating over 12,000 jobs over the next 30 years.
The lifecycle of oil and gas projects is projected to span more than three decades, with key phases including construction and production.
The construction phase alone is expected to generate 5,000 jobs, including 500 direct jobs, 2,000 indirect jobs, and 2,500 induced jobs.
Key employment drivers during this phase, according to Deloitte Namibia’s Country Leader Melanie Harrison, will include the transport industry, which is expected to create 953 jobs; wholesale and retail trade, with 598 jobs; and private household services, which are projected to create 595 jobs.
