Consumers in Erongo, Hardap, Omaheke, and //Kharas paid the highest prices for maize meal in January, according to the Namibia Statistics Agency’s (NSA) latest Consumer Price Index report.
A 5kg bag cost N$71.57 in Zone 3, making it the most expensive in the country. In Zone 2 (Khomas), the same staple cost slightly less at N$70.49, while Zone 1—which includes Kavango West, Kunene, Zambezi, and Otjozondjupa—had the lowest price at N$68.99.
Price variations were also observed in other essentials, such as rooibos tea.
Consumers in Zone 3 paid the highest price for a 100g pack at N$35.66, followed by Zone 1 at N$33.23 and Zone 2 at N$32.49.
