The information and health ministries have launched a national command centre to disseminate information about Covid-19 daily.

The centre was launched Thursday in Windhoek and is based at then Khomas regional council offices.

Other ministries involved are finance, trade, justice, labour, agriculture whose officials will be called upon to give information.

The Editors Forum of Namibia has committed to assist the information and health ministries in ensuring that accurate information is disseminated to all our citizens across Namibia.

The EFN has also committed to having its members focus solely on the crisis at hand and put any differences aside. All media houses will be getting real-time information and updates about COVID-19 from this centre.

Currently, Namibia has 14 confirmed Covid-19 cases and two regions – Khomas and Erongo – are on a 21-day lockdown.

This centre will act as a one-stop communications shop for all the media houses and the public. In addition to the hotline, we also have an email address (Covid.Nam@mict.gov.na) that ensures that all queries, and questions are channelled to one central place for responses every day at 16h00, here at the communications centre.

Further, there will be a daily debrief at 10h00 am to inform the public about any developments around Covid-19.
