The government needs to launch operation preparedness to address access to sanitation in informal settlements during this time of Covid-19 as a matter of urgency.

This, the PDM leader Mchenry Venaani told the national executive committee members of his party PDM, would include setting up quarantine facilities of a minimum of 100 beds in every constituency.

Venaani also said the operation would need the government to provide at least 10 trained nurses in two constituencies to be on standby.

In addition, Venaani said during a meeting being held in Windhoek, the government will have to invite the private sector to help supply the personal protective equipment.

According to Venaani, the current job losses are a serious concern to the PDM which calls on the government to initiate a Private sector Stimulus and Working Capital Injection to protect the ailing economy and jobs during this economic meltdown.

He said the Private Sector has been compelled to protect its cash flow by freezing employment, retrenchment, reducing credit extensions and cancellation of future business expansions.

“We, therefore, propose that the fastest way of recovery and to cushion further meltdown can only be materialized by the introduction of a defensive and proactive recovery instrument which involve business owners by way of interest-bearing grant or funding instruments to improve the working capital requirements and cash flow shortages to maintain labour force,” he said.
