Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has called on Namibian farmers grazing in Angola to comply with and respect Angolan laws while in that country.
She made these remarks following a meeting with her Angolan counterpart, Ambassador Tete António, on Friday at which they discussed the thorny issue of cross-border grazing between the two countries.
Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday undertook a joint visit with the Angolan Minister of External Relations to the Cunene Province of Angola and the Ohangwena region in Namibia.
The Friday meeting stems from an incident last year, wherein hundreds of Namibian communal farmers, who traditionally cross the border into Angola seasonally to seek pastures for their livestock, were instructed to vacate the area and formally apply for permits.
