Agriculture Minister Calle Schlettwein anticipates that the Neckartal Dam Project in the ||Karas region will be operational in the next three to four years, offering 15,000 job opportunities.

However, Schlettwein does not expect the project to reach its full production in the next five years.

The ambitious endeavour, which commenced construction in 2013 with a government investment of N$5.5 billion to date, has faced scrutiny for not meeting its anticipated potential.

“We expect it to begin production in three or four years. It is a large project, and it must be faced; it will not be in full production in the next five years. I doubt that,” Schlettwein said in an interview with Eagle FM.
