Esther Haita, a 30-year-old entrepreneur specialising in indigenous fruits and vegetables from Mayara village in Kavango West, is urging young people to tap into the potential of local produce to bolster regional products.
Haita, a beneficiary of a two-day training workshop held in November on value addition to wild oranges (maguni) and hibiscus (mutete), shared her insights following the program conducted by the University of Namibia (Unam) and the Kavango West regional council under their inaugural Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Twenty community members from the region, facilitated by the National Commission on Research Science and Technology (NCRST), participated in the MOU to engage in the cultivation, collection, and processing of maguni and mutete into various products.
