Education stakeholders have been urged to play a more active role in guiding parents and secondary school graduates toward career paths that align with the country’s economic development and diversification goals.

Over the years, Namibia has seen a huge number of pupils graduating from high school opting to pursue studies in education and nursing disciplines more than other courses at various institutions of higher learning in the country.

This situation, as corroborated by enrollment statistics for the 2022 and 2023 academic years, provided by the University of Namibia’s (Unam), has led to the oversupply of trained teachers and nurses who can’t find jobs.
