The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) is grappling with significant financial challenges, primarily due to unpaid bills by its customers.

NamWater CEO Abraham Nehemia highlighted this issue recently, noting that in 2022, NamWater reported being owed a staggering N$1.4 billion by customers who have consistently defaulted on their water payments.

Nehemia emphasised that this situation hampers the corporation’s ability to recover costs and sustain its water supply operations.

“The recovery of costs so we can continue to supply water services is a problem,” he said.

However, Nehemia pointed out that NamWater is actively addressing this issue and is eager to find a sustainable solution.
