Amidst the ongoing ban on the importation of the Boam insecticide by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, Namibia has imported retail insecticides worth approximately N$57 million since last year.
Data provided by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) reveal that South Africa is the primary source of retail insecticides into Namibia, accounting for N$55 million in that period.
This is followed by India at N$1 million and France at N$370,012.
In January 2024, Namibia imported similar products from South Africa at a cost of N$5 million.
