A resident of Epanya village in Oshana ran amok and attacked three people including a six-year-old girl who later died at Oshakati State Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Oshana police inspector Tomas Aiyambo said the man, aged 34, attacked the women with a panga.

Police identified the victims as Martha Nembuta (60) and Samuel Dortea (17), while the girl who died is Nambambi Sabina.

The school which Sabina attended Onepandaulo Combined School said they had learnt about her death with sadness.

Nembuta and Dortea were rushed to Oshakati State Hospital where they are said to be stable conditions.

Aiyambo said the murder weapon the victims were recovered and that Nembuta is understood to be the suspect’s mother.

“The investigators are still busy to unveil the motive behind the attack, all we understand is that one of the victims is a relative (mother) to the suspect,’’ he said.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Oshakati police station.

The cause of the attack is not known at this moment.
