Deputy Prime Minister and the international relations minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Tuesday said that Namibia’s ambassador to France Albertus Aochamub tested positive for the coronavirus.

Nandi-Ndakitwah revealed this at State House in Windhoek when she gave an account of what the international relations ministry was doing regarding curbing the coronavirus.

Although she did not give dates, the deputy prime minister said that Aochumab visited a doctor and was sent home after he had been checked up.

According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, Aochamub returned to the doctor the next day when he developed a fever, was tested and the results came out positive.

She said that Aochamub, who served president Hage Geingob’s press secretary, has a mild form of the coronavirus and his family is in quarantine at home.

Aochamub was appointed as the ambassador to France in November 2018 after a brief stint with the Namibia Airports Company.
