John McNab, traditional leader of the Rehoboth Baster community, passed away over the weekend.
His death was confirmed by his former secretary, Collin Charles April.
McNab was not recognised by the Namibian government on the basis that the Baster community does not have any land to claim ownership on.
He served as ‘Kaptein’ for 21 years up to his death. PDM presidential spokesperson, Inna Hengari, commended McNab for his role representing and keeping his community together during his tenure as the traditional leader.
