Investigations conducted by the Namibia Competition Commission (NCC) in three separate sectors have revealed that new entrants in the economy are being kept out or driven out of the market by existing companies in an anti-competitive manner.

Last week, the Commission exposed coercive behaviour and misuse of dominance by established companies, targeting small or new entrants in the markets.

The Commission’s assessment of the fishing sector revealed that around ten fishing companies operating horse mackerel vessels in Namibia have imposed lower quota usage fees on fishing rights holders, fees that fall below the minimum government reserve price.
