Consumers in the Khomas region paid the highest to acquire pure sunflower oil in December due to a surge in the prices of this essential commodity.
This is according to data contained in the recently released Consumer Price Index (CPI) report by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA).
The average retail prices for selected items in December 2023 revealed that consumers in Zone 2 (Khomas region) spent the most on Pure Sunflower oil (750 ml) at N$37.63, as highlighted by NSA’s Statistician General and CEO, Alex Shimuafeni.
Zone 1 (Kavango East, Kavango West, Kunene, Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana, Oshikoto, Otjozondjupa, and Zambezi regions) followed with a price of N$31.11, while Zone 3 (Kharas, Erongo, Hardap, and Omaheke) paid the lowest price at N$30.12.
Additionally, the Khomas region paid the highest price of N$107.41 for 500g of honey, with Zone 3 following at N$90.63 and Zone 1 at N$82.75.
