Residents of Omuthiya and surrounding villages will now have direct access to MTC services, as Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) prepares to open its first mobile home in the town.
In a statement this week, MTC announced that preparations are at an advanced stage to launch the new outlet — its 37th nationwide — in mid-July.
The permanent shop will be located in Omuthiya, the capital of the Oshikoto Region.
Previously, residents relied on a mobile van service that operated only twice a week.
This limited access forced many to travel long distances—up to 83 km to Ondangwa or 130 km to Tsumeb—for services such as SIM replacements and contract renewals.
