A local businessman from Oshakati has extended a lifeline to eight sex workers operating near the Okandjendi Bridge by offering them training in design and tailoring, aiming to help them build better lives.

The number of individuals turning to sex work in the area has surged in recent years, a trend worsened by the economic downturn.

Frans Nangaku, owner of Atmos Tailoring and Fashion Design Centre, told The Villager that he took time researching the circumstances that led these women into sex work.

“It took me a long time and effort to contact them. I’ve been trying to understand the root causes. In most cases, the police are sent to chase these people away, but that doesn’t solve the problem. That’s why I decided to offer those willing to learn new skills free training,” Nangaku explained.
